Each section of the Department is involved in this function. For example, the department secretary is responsible for coordinating the Department's involvement in community events such as the Winnetka Children’s Fair. She also plans and organizes the annual bicycle rodeo, coordinates the department's involvement in Chamber of Commerce functions, and is responsible for placing crime prevention and safety tips on the Village’s cable television bulletin board, and maintaining the Department Web Page. In addition, she schedules and conducts tours of the Police Station for school groups, Scout troops, and other youth organizations. Members of the Operations Section are available to speak to schools, community groups and special functions. The Department offers student internships on a limited basis. To ensure that the Police Department continues to provide excellent customer service to the community, members of this section are also responsible for conducting periodic community surveys to solicit information from residents and merchants regarding their experiences with and impressions of Department services.
