The
Administrative
Services Section consists of one Sergeant and
six civilian employees. Included within the Administrative Services
Section are the Records and Communications Units. Communications Officers
are responsible for coordinating all calls for service made to the 911
Communications Center on a twenty-four hour
basis. Communications Officers dispatch 911 calls for the Police
Department and handle all other incoming emergency and non-emergency
calls. Via radio communication, the members of this unit facilitate the
coordination of Village response to emergencies with the Fire Department,
Public Works Department, the Water and Electric Department, and
neighboring communities. Communications officers provide general
information to the public, either over the telephone or in person, provide
law enforcement data to the patrol units working in the community, and
assist investigators with information gained via computerized and
automated data systems.
Members
of the Administrative Services Section are also assigned to the Records
Section. They process and maintain all police reports, solicitor applications and permits, liquor license applications, information
relating to false burglar alarms, parking violations and various other
reports required by county, state and federal governments. Members of the
Records Section also staff the department Reception Desk and prepare the
daily report of police activity that is provided to the Village Manager
and Village President. They also are responsible for updating and
maintaining all case files and collecting and collating statistical data
for the annual and semi annual police reports.
Administrative
Services personnel are also involved in assisting other Department and
Village employees in a wide variety of tasks, including technical
assistance, permits and resolving citizen complaints.
