Landmarks Trolley Tour May 21

The Landmark Preservation Commission (LPC) and the Winnetka Historical Society are once again offering a trolley tour of Winnetka landmarks. The free tours, scheduled on Sunday, May 21 at 1:00 PM or 3:00 PM, will depart from Village Hall, 510 Green Bay Road.


Willow Road Resurfacing Project

On Monday, April 17, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) expects to begin its Willow Road Resurfacing Project. The construction will span Willow Road from the Edens Expressway in Northfield to Provident Avenue in Winnetka, and will include some minor curb and sidewalk replacement. Motorists and pedestrians can expect minor delays as the construction progresses; IDOT anticipates the project should be completed by mid-June.

The Friends of the Chicago River, founded in 1979, is active in promoting the health of the River through raising awareness about the impacts of stormwater, sewage and industrial waste. The Friends encourages individuals to conserve water, especially during heavy storms when the Chicago area’s system of tunnels and reservoirs can become overwhelmed. April is Overflow Action Month, and Friends has planned 30 days of action and awareness to conserve and protect clean, fresh water.

Winnetka’s Document Destruction Event will be held Saturday, May 6 from 9:00 AM to Noon at the Public Works Yards, 1390 Willow Road. Water Department Cross Connection Survey

In April, all water customers of the Village will receive the 2017 Cross Connection Survey from the Water Department. The State of Illinois and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency(IEPA) regulations require all public water system operators to implement and maintain a cross connection control program aimed at identifying and eliminating cross connection hazards.
