2018 Landmark Preservation Awards

The Winnetka Landmark Preservation Commission is now accepting applications for its annual awards program. The Preservation Awards program seeks to honor those construction projects in the Village that have helped preserve the history and character of the Village. The program has three categories of awards: Restoration, Rehabilitation, and New Construction.

Document Destruction Event Saturday, May 5 from 9:00 - Noon

Winnetka’s Document Destruction Event will be held Saturday, May 5 from 9:00 AM to Noon at the Public Works Yards, 1390 Willow Road. The goal of the program is to assist residents with recycling out-dated or sensitive documents. As a continuing program, the Solid Agency of Northern Cook Country (SWANCC) is providing a one-day document destruction event for residentially-generated paper.

Water Department Performing Village-wide Leak Detection Program

ADS Environmental Services has been hired to perform leak detection services on the Village’s water system to identify and reduce unnecessary water loss. Technicians will survey approximately 72 miles of water mains and 4,500 water services to locate undetected water leaks.

Landmarks Trolley Tour May 12

The Landmark Preservation Commission (LPC) and the Winnetka Historical Society are once again offering a trolley tour of Winnetka landmarks. The free tours still have seats left on the 3:00 PM tour on Saturday, May 12. The tour will depart from Village Hall, 510 Green Bay Road. Reservations are required. National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, April 28 from 10AM - 2PM

The Winnetka Police Department is again partnering with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration to participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The day of the event is Saturday, April 28 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. A disposal box will be set-up in the lobby of the Police Department, 410 Green Bay Road.
