Community Participation Welcomed at Budget Hearing on Tuesday, November 21at 7:00 PM

The public is encouraged to attend a Budget Hearing at the Village Council’s Regular meeting on November 21. After the Budget Hearing, the Council plans to introduce the 2018 Budget and Rate Resolutions, and the 2017 Tax Levy Ordinance.

The community is invited to attend a Veterans’ Day program at the Winnetka Community House, 620 Lincoln Avenue, on November 11 at 5:00 PM. The one-hour program is sponsored by the Winnetka Park District, Village of Winnetka, Winnetka Club, Hadley School for the Blind Veterans Initiative, New Trier V.F.W. Post #4831, and Boy Scout Troops 18 & 20.

Winnetka Downtown Plan Task Force Inaugural Meeting Monday, October 30 at 5:00 PM

Meet at Village Hall on Monday, October 30 at 5:00 PM for a walking tour of existing conditions in the Elm Street Business District. After the tour, the Task Force will meet in the Council Chambers to review the Downtown Master Plan recommendations and goals/objectives.

Village Budget Demonstrates Fiscal Responsibility and Stable Property Taxes

On Tuesday, December 1, the 2016 Annual Budget was approved by the Winnetka Village Council. The 2016 Budget is balanced; and operating expenditures are fully funded by operating revenues. The Budget anticipates a potential 25% reduction in State of Illinois shared revenues by holding the line on expenses and not increasing any other taxes. Property taxes, which account for almost 55% of the revenue in the Village’s General Fund, will remain level compared to 2015. Overall, Village finances ​

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, October 28 from 10AM - 2PM

The Winnetka Police Department is again partnering with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration to participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The day of the event is Saturday, October 28 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. A disposal box will be set-up in the lobby of the Police Department, 410 Green Bay Road.
