Village Seeks Input on Refuse Collection Services

The Village is asking for your opinions regarding an important community service issue: refuse collection. Every Winnetka household was mailed an informational brochure which provides an overview of current services and background on the input we will be seeking. After reading the brochure, residents are encouraged to access the online survey, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete.


Seatbelt Saturdays for the Month of March

Every Saturday during the month of March, Winnetka Police will increase enforcement efforts to educate motorists who are not wearing seatbelts. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, seatbelt use in passenger vehicles saved an estimated 13,941 lives during 2015. Buckling up helps keep drivers and passengers secure inside a vehicle, while not buckling up can result in being totally ejected from the vehicle in a crash.


2018 Landmark Preservation Awards

The Winnetka Landmark Preservation Commission is now accepting applications for its annual awards program. The Preservation Awards program seeks to honor those construction projects in the Village that have helped preserve the history and character of the Village. The program has three categories of awards: Restoration, Rehabilitation, and New Construction.


Electronic Recycling Program to Resume March 29

Since last November, the Village's electronic recycling program has been on hold. The program will resume March 29, 2018, at the Winnetka Public Works Yards, 1390 Willow Road. After March 29, household electronics will be accepted for recycling at the Public Works Yards every Thursday from 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Please contact the Public Works Department at 847-716-3568 with any questions.
