Electronic Recycling Program Closed Until April, 2018

Winnetka’s electronic recycling contractor, COM2 Recycling, has discontinued electronic recycling over the winter months. The current program (Thursdays from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the Public Works Yards, 1390 Willow Road) is expected to resume in April, 2018.

Take Advantage of Year-Round Light Recycling

As you decorate for the holidays, you may discover that some old lights and extension cords don’t work. Recycle them with the Village’s year-round light recycling program! All types of holiday lights and cords are accepted for recycling at the Public Works Yards, 1390 Willow Road, weekdays from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

Water Department Performing Village-wide Leak Detection Program

ADS Environmental Services has been hired to perform leak detection services on the Village’s water system to identify and reduce unnecessary water loss. Technicians will survey approximately 72 miles of water mains and 4,500 water services to locate undetected water leaks.

Village Budget Demonstrates Fiscal Responsibility and Stable Property Taxes

On Tuesday, December 5, the 2018 Annual Budget was approved by the Winnetka Village Council. The 2018 Budget is balanced; and operating expenditures are fully funded by operating revenues. Property taxes will remain level for the fourth year in a row. Village residents will see slight increases in their water, electric and sanitary sewer bills next year, and an increase in residential refuse collection fees from $10/month to $25/month. Most other fees and taxes remain unchanged.
