The Village of Winnetka is responsible for maintaining over 625 fire hydrants throughout the Village, including unincorporated service areas.  Hydrants are sandblasted and painted approximately every four years to enhance their appearance and improve visibility of faded and weathered hydrants.

Starting June 2nd, this year’s program of approximately 165 hydrants will be painted in the southeast portion of Winnetka bounded by these streets:  Ash Street on the north, Sheridan Road on the east, Locust Road on the west, and the Kenilworth/Winnetka municipal border on the south.

The services of the contractor, Bill’s Commercial Painting, were secured through a multi-community joint bidding process.  For further information about the Hydrant Painting Program, please contact the Water & Electric Department’s non-emergency number at 847-716-3558.
