The Village of Winnetka is responsible for maintaining over 625 fire hydrants throughout the Village and unincorporated service area. Part of this maintenance includes the painting of hydrants. Hydrants are sandblasted and painted approximately every four years to enhance their appearance and improve visibility of faded and weathered hydrants. Starting October 11, approximately 170 hydrants will be painted north of Elm Street, west of Green Bay Rd and south of the Village limits.
Alpha Paintworks has been hired to perform the hydrant painting. For further information about the Hydrant Painting Program, please contact the Water & Electric Department’s non-emergency number at 847-716-3558.
