Environmental & Forestry Commission Launches Commercial District Recycling/Trash Receptacle Pilot Program

August 29, 2014 03:22 PM

The Village of Winnetka’s Environmental and Forestry Commission (EFC) is proud to announce the inception of its Commercial District Recycling and Trash Receptacle Pilot Program. In 2013, the EFC put a proposal in front of the Village Council to install 25 sets of recycling and trash containers in various locations throughout the Village's commercial districts. The Council approved the funds as a line item in the 2014 budget.

In August, 2014, a sample set of the proposed recycling receptacles has been placed at the southwest corner of Chestnut and Spruce Streets, in front of Starbucks. The EFC plans to present the matter for further Council consideration, with the hopes of appropriating funds for the project during the remainder of 2014.
