On August 6, 2019, Winnetka’s Village Council voted unanimously to repeal approvals for the One Winnetka development project due to the developer’s non-compliance with the development agreement and zoning approvals. The Village has also filed a complaint in court against the developer to compel action on numerous property maintenance issues.
On Friday, August 2, 2019, water service on Provident and Spruce will be turned off in order for the Water & Electric Department to replace a valve on the water distribution system. Upon restoration of water service, a boil order is required as a precautionary measure for at least 18 hours following the construction work. The service interruption is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM and the work is anticipated to take 4 hours.
The Village of Winnetka maintains more than 625 fire hydrants throughout the Village and unincorporated service area, and will be painting approximately 144 of those hydrants in the following areas, beginning August 5:
• Area south of Hawthorn Lane, east of the railroad and bounded by the lake
• Area south of Mt. Pleasant Street, west of the railroad and east of Locust Road
The Water and Electric Department is distributing a survey via mail to residential and commercial water customers to update our records regarding cross connections and backflow devices that are connected to the Village’s potable water system. Please keep an eye out for the survey, completing it at your earliest convenience.
