Village of Winnetka
On August 6, 2019, Winnetka’s Village Council voted unanimously to repeal approvals for the One Winnetka development project due to the developer’s non-compliance with the development agreement and zoning approvals. The Village has also filed a complaint in court against the developer to compel action on numerous property maintenance issues.
The Water & Electric Department will be performing inspections of the wooden distribution poles of the Village’s overhead distribution system. Work is scheduled to begin on July 29 and last approximately 2 weeks.
The Village of Winnetka maintains more than 625 fire hydrants throughout the Village and unincorporated service area, and will be painting approximately 144 of those hydrants in the following areas, beginning August 5:
• Area south of Hawthorn Lane, east of the railroad and bounded by the lake
• Area south of Mt. Pleasant Street, west of the railroad and east of Locust Road
Wanted: Individuals interested in social services and the allocation of Township resources to local non-profit organizations serving Township residents.
The Water & Electric Department will be performing thermography inspections of the Village’s overhead power lines, distribution centers, switchgear and select transformer sites. Thermography is a non-destructive test method that may be used to detect poor connections, unbalanced loads, deteriorated insulation, or other potential problems. Work is scheduled to begin on July 17th and last approximately two weeks.
