Be a Good Neighbor, Pick up After Your Dog

Picking up after your dog is an important part of responsible pet ownership. In recent months, dog droppings have been left on both public parkways/sidewalks and private lawns. This practice not only demonstrates a lack of civility and respect for your neighbors; it creates an air of degradation in the community. Dog owners can show their neighborly concern by picking up after their pets at all times.

Elm Street Commuter Parking Lot Undergoing Construction

The excavation of the pavement, placement of the concrete curb, and concrete pavement portion of the project are complete. Unfortunately, the delivery of brick for construction of the permeable pavement on the western portion of the lot was delayed. The provision and placement of the brick pavers is expected to be completed by the end of next week. Parking and vehicle/pedestrian access will not be permitted until the completion of the project.


Online Utility Bill Payment System Will be Down From 5:00 PM August 24 to 8:30 AM August 27

The Village is upgrading its bill payment and accounting software at the end of August. The online utility billing payment system will be unavailable for one weekend, beginning at 5:00 PM on Friday, August 24 through 8:30 AM on Monday August 27.


Phosphorus Fertilizer Prohibition

To protect water quality by reducing phosphorus runoff, Winnetka bans the use of phosphorus-containing fertilizers. State law already prohibits the application of phosphorus-containing fertilizers by commercial applicators. The Village’s ordinance complements the state law, and allows exceptions for the Park District and residents when phosphorus doesn’t naturally occur at high enough levels or is otherwise low; and for newly sodded or seeded lawns.
