Village of Winnetka Discontinues Cable Public Access Channel

December 16, 2016 03:24 PM

Since 2009, Winnetka has contracted with the City of Highland Park to provide public access programming.  Comcast Channel 10 has been used to air informational bulletins and broadcasts of Village Council meetings.  In 2015, the Village was informed that significant equipment upgrades were necessary for continued programming, and therefore undertook an effort to study other alternatives.  Ultimately, no other satisfactory, cost-efficient options are available and current operations cannot continue without a considerable capital investment.  The Village elected to discontinue cable access programming as of December 31, 2016.

Fortunately, residents may stream Village Council meetings on Winnetka’s website:  Other important news and information is also offered on the website, and subscribers to Winnetka’s electronic newsletter, E-Winnetka, receive weekly information bulletins.  In addition, users may subscribe to E-alerts, which are issued on an as-needed basis.  Click here to subscribe to E-Winnetka.  Click here to view the Council meeting video archive.
