Village Solicitor Regulations

July 31, 2014 04:31 PM

Solicitors in Winnetka are required to be permitted by the Village. Solicitation refers to persons selling merchandise, services, taking orders or subscriptions or requesting donations, gifts and pledges.  Certain exceptions are allowed to include persons merely discussing political or religious matters and not requesting funds.

Residents can post "No Soliciting" signs to disallow even permitted solicitors from making such inquires. Residents can also have their address added to the "Do Not Solicit" registry by sending an email to or submitting their information on a form available at the police station and website.

Residents who observe solicitor violations are asked to the call 9-1-1 to report the matter.
