1. What are the Village's regulations related to grass and weeds?

All grass and weeds must be mowed by property owners or those responsible for property maintenance before the growth reaches 8 inches. Email the Village's Code Enforcement Officer, or call 847-716-3521.

2. Does the Village regulate hours for noisy landscaping work and/or leaf blowers?

Acceptable Days & Hours

Noisy landscaping activity may only occur:

• Monday through Friday 7 AM to 7 PM
• Saturday 9 AM to 7 PM
• Sunday and holidays 10 AM to 7 PM

Use of a Leaf Blower

In Winnetka, the use of gasoline powered leaf blowers is only allowed during the following hours, and only between October 1 and May 31:

• Monday through Friday 8 AM to 7 PM
• Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 9 AM to 6 PM

Employing Landscapers

If you employ landscapers, please make sure that they are aware of Winnetka’s leaf blower ordinance. Violators will be ticketed. Please contact the Winnetka Police Department non-emergency phone number, 847-501-6034, with any questions.

Leaf Blower Restrictions

Winnetka’s leaf blower restrictions do not apply to golf course lawn upkeep activities, to employees of the Village working on road maintenance, to electric leaf blowers plugged into normal electric outlets, or to battery-powered leaf blowers.
