Do I need special approval from the Village to make changes to the exterior of my property?

A Certificate of Appropriateness of Design must be issued by the Design Review Board prior to any external architectural feature changes, including awnings, storefronts, painting, landscaping, and certain signage for commercial, multi-family or institutional buildings. Single-family homes are not required to obtain a Certificate of Appropriateness. Email Christopher Marx or call at 847-716-3587 with any questions regarding certificate of appropriateness applications.
