Address numbers should be clearly visible and prominently displayed on the street side of residential buildings and on the street and rear (alley) side of commercial buildings. Numbers should be numeric (not script), no less than 4 inches in height, and in a color that contrasts with the background color, and no larger than 1 1/2 square feet in area.

Though a permit from the Village is not required for garage sales, a garage sale must comply with the following requirement:
- The Winnetka Sign Ordinance prohibits the display of garage sale signs on premises other than those on which the sale is conducted. This restriction includes street light and utility poles, as well as public parkways. The code allows only one temporary sign no larger than 8 square feet which must be placed on the property where the sale is taking place.
