Expired/Unused Medications

The Winnetka Fire Department has partnered with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office to participate in their Prescription Drug Take-Back program.

Residents may bring their expired/unused medications to the Winnetka Fire Station (428 Green Bay Road, Winnetka). The Fire Station is open weekdays from 8:30AM to 5:00PM. The medication collection drop-box is located in the front lobby vestibule (as pictured below).

Per program guidelines, the collection box cannot accept liquid or loose medications. For proper disposal of liquid medication, please check with your prescribing pharmacy to confirm a location that accepts liquid medication for disposal.

The Winnetka Police Department hosts a DEA Drug Take-Back Program one-day event twice annually, typically once in the spring and once in the fall. This program is able to accept liquid medications. Information will be posted in the News section of the Village website in advance of a scheduled collection day.
