Transit Options

Winnetka (Elm Street) StationWinnetka has convenient access to a variety of transportation options, including METRA commuter rail and PACE suburban bus routes. The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) website provides trip planning tools to assist you when traveling anywhere within the region.

Metra Union Pacific North (UP-N) Line

Winnetka’s three Metra stations are located on Metra’s Union Pacific North Line, providing convenient access to downtown Chicago, with northbound service to Kenosha. Winnetka is served by frequent daily service to the West Loop via the Ogilivie Transportation Center (500 W Madison Street).

PACE Bus Service

Local bus service is also available and is coordinated by PACE, the suburban bus division of the Regional Transportation Authority. Winnetka is served by two regular PACE routes, as well as a dedicated "shuttle service" for students attending New Trier’s West Campus in Northfield, or Loyola Academy in Wilmette.

Route 213 (Green Bay Road): Provides service between downtown Evanston’s Davis Street CTA Purple Line station and Northbrook Court (Lake Cook Road). Stops near New Trier High School Winnetka Campus as well as Ravinia and the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Monday through Saturday (no Sunday service).

Route 423 (Sheridan Road / Elm Street / Hibbard Road /Willow Road): Route 423 provides access locally to New Trier High School (via Sheridan Road), Winnetka Metra (Elm Street) station, Washburne/Skokie Schools, and Skokie Playfields. Provides service between Wilmette 4th and Linden CTA Purple Line and Harlem CTA Blue Line station. Monday through Friday (No Saturday or Sunday service).
