Electric Utility Rebate Program

Winnetka is expanding its clean energy and energy saving rebate program for utility customers. Take advantage of the savings when you make qualifying upgrades to your home. New rebates starting in 2026 include the following:

  • Up to $3,000 for solar energy systems
  • $500 for Level 2 and 3 EV charging
  • Up to $600 for efficient replacement air conditioners
  • $100 to $500 for efficient electric appliances

For years, Winnetka has disbursed available funding from IMEA’s Energy Efficiency Upgrade Rebate Program to support energy efficiency projects such as LED lighting retrofits, HVAC performance improvements, and residential programmable thermostats. Through 2025, Winnetka distributed nearly half a million dollars to drive over 9.6 million kWh of cumulative energy savings. 

These investments, with the financial help from rebates, save customers energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and lower utility bills. Rebates have been awarded to Village properties, New Trier High School, Winnetka Park District, local businesses such as The Grand, and dozens of homeowners. 

To bolster the Village’s commitment to sustainability, we have added several energy efficiency, renewable energy, and electrification categories to help residents save money and reduce pollution levels in the community. Now it’s easy to claim your rebate by filling out the Village's electric utility rebate form.

Solar Distributed Generation (DG)

Residential - $300/kW up to 10kW of capacity = $3,000 Cap

Commercial - $250/kW AC up to 10kW of capacity = $2,500 Cap

EV ChargingAll EV Charger incentive rebates are up to $500 and limited to 50% of total costs (charger purchase price and installation) excluding tax, discounts, permit costs, and ineligible costs
A/C Condenser Replacement Rebates

Incentives for qualifying Central Air Conditioning (A/C) units:

  • 15 SEER or 14.3 SEER2 ($300)
  • 16 SEER or 15.3 SEER2 ($400)
  • 18 SEER or 17.2 SEER2 ($600)
Appliance Rebates

ENERGY STAR Electric heat pump water heaters ($500)

​ENERGY STAR Electric heat pump clothes dryers or combination washer/ dryers ($250)

Induction cooktops/ranges ($150)

Autonomous/robot electric lawn mowers ($200) 

Smart Thermostat RebatesUp to two new smart thermostats. Maximum rebate amount is $100 per unit ($200 total).
Heat Pumps

Ducted units:

  • SEER2 between 15.2 and 17.1 and HSPF2 ≥ 8.1 ($1,200) 
  • SEER2 > 17.1 and HSPF2 ≥ 8.1 ($1,600) 

Ductless heat pump ($1,000)

Minisplit heat pump ($1,000)


Rebate Application, Terms, and Conditions

Complete the electric utility rebate form and attach receipts. The Village will mail a check to you once the application has been approved and processed. Please allow up to six weeks to receive your rebate.
